Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is the standard markup language for creating web pages and web applications. Along with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript, it forms the core for the World Wide Web (www).

We use web browsers to receive HTML documents from a webserver or from local storage and render them into multimedia or web pages. HTML describes the structure of a web page semantically and originally included cues for the appearance of the document.

HTML is most commonly used as the format of the online documents we call as web pages. When you create a set of complete HTML documents having a similar look and feel and linking to one another, this is referred to as a website.
